10 reasons why Vilnius is the cracker in summer!

1. the weather! Basically, we have spent every summer vacation in Lithuania felt until the tenth grade. The explanation is quite obvious, since our mom and thus a large part of our family comes from Lithuania. And one thing has remained until today. The hot and very humid Lithuanian summer makes you sweat even at early 20 degrees Celsius. We had completely forgotten how hot a Baltic summer can be!

2. pure nature! Well, have you ever had a private lake? We haven't quite yet, but little Lithuania has well over 200 lakes. We made the 30-minute drive to Trakai just outside the gates of the capital Vilnius and spent a wonderful night at the Tony Resort in the middle of the forest by the lake. If we could, we would beam ourselves there again in a heartbeat!

3. The food! Traditional Lithuanian cuisine is admittedly quite hearty, but extremely tasty. Especially in summer there is no way around Šaltibarščiai - the cold beet soup with freshly cooked potatoes. Traditionally, cepelinai should be ordered at least once. This is minced meat coated with potato dumpling dough half and half. It is served with bacon and sour cream, perfect against hangover or before going out ;> Unfortunately, our favorite restaurant Neringa is currently under renovation, so we can't recommend it here. Lithuanians usually eat these dishes only at home and not out, but that's the case everywhere anyway. What we want to say, just try it in a Lithuanian restaurant!

4. country and people. We don't want to generalize anything, but Lithuanians sometimes have something of the Berliners. A bit grumpy, but at heart and at second glance the best ever! A little gold and glitter, contrabandas and fat cars never hurt. In the Apoteka bar we had not only insanely delicious drinks, but also the encounter with great drunkards who just radiated absolute cordiality. In general, the corner in Vilnius is ideal for going out and bar hopping.
