Installation Air by Kenzo Digital in New York

Designed as an office tower, the One Vanderbilt skyscraper in New York opened in 2020 during the Corona pandemic. A year later, the 427-meter building designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox is still largely empty. Now, however, something is to happen, at least on the top four floors. The Snøhetta-designed spaces, called Summit One Vanderbilt, include viewing platforms, lounging areas and zones for art and culture.

New York-based artist Kenzo Digital created an immersive installation called Air on these floors - at a height of more than 300 meters - that aims to offer visitors* a multisensory experience in addition to the view. It plays with the transparency of glass, the reflective surfaces of mirrors, and geometries to create a sense of boundlessness and infinity.

Visitors* are immersed in a world that constantly carries external events and weather conditions - sun, rain, snow - inside and multiplies them until the boundaries between reality and reflections become blurred for the viewer. The human being is invited to become a part of the whole and to merge with the structure. In addition, special lighting, the use of sound and playful elements such as balloons are intended to make Air an experience beyond the physical space. as
