Jäll & Tofta is what they call themselves. An unusual name for an interior studio. One suspects that's the name of the two founders, but behind it are Sina Gwosdzik and Jakob Dannenfeldt, two graduate product designers from Berlin who founded their studio in 2010 - after the birth of their first son. "We always wanted to work on our own projects and had already focused our studies on designing furniture and interiors," explains Sina Gwosdzik. The duo's creations have their own unique touch. Jäll & Tofta pluckily rely on bold colors and light woods, giving their sophisticated furniture and humorous objects a Scandinavian flair. And indeed, the pair's sense of style is informed by shared trips to the north: "We're regularly in Småland, near the small village of Jälluntofta. The name inspired us when we started our studio."

With the design of interiors and products for children, the couple ventures into complex terrain. Before implementation, Sina Gwosdzik and Jakob Dannenfeldt have to consider many things, "such as the materials, the dimensions of beds, steps, mattresses, the height of tables and so on. Because as children grow, their needs change." Dialog with the client, the parents, is also part of the mandatory program: "We question some customer wishes to make sure that a concept or an installation is thought out as long-term as possible. From the child's point of view, it's primarily about feeling comfortable; for the parents, it's about functionality and aesthetics." Both sides' demands, which Jäll & Tofta meets in a subtle and multifaceted way. However, the designer duo does not want to make themselves comfortable only in the children's niche. "We are currently working on our third office project, and designing hotels or a store would also be interesting." Bet that the unusual studio name will soon be very familiar to us.
